OCTAVIO'S GARDEN: “Nancy McCaleb is probably most inspired by and engaged with the contemporary art world. And so it's fitting that the San Diego Museum of Art chose to feature McCaleb Dance in conjunction with ‘Axis Mexico: Common Objects and Cosmopolitan Actions,’ a groundbreaking exhibition of contemporary Mexican artists.”

"A garden is not a place: it is a passage, a passion." -From East Slope, A Tale of Two Gardens by Octavio Paz. Like Paz’s poem, the dance speaks to the perpetual motion and transparencies of the eternal present. Octavio’s Garden was commissioned by The San Diego Museum of Art and is set to the wildly exotic music of Japanese composer Asa-Chang.
Costume design: Kathleen Fitz-Gerald and Carissa Mellroth McCaleb's choreographic collaborators/company dancers: Eric Geiger, Greg Lane, Sarah Kaye, Troy Sellers, Elizabeth Swallow, Ali Fischer
